This page describes how we calculate refunds and outlines our policy on gift refunds and gift card refunds. Our refunds policy doesn't affect your statutory rights. Your refund and how your refund is issued may differ based on the condition of the item, how long you've had the item, and how the item was purchased.
Most refunds are issued based on the payment method used at the time of purchase. In some cases, you may be offered an "Instant refund" option.
If you want to use your refund without waiting for your return to process, you can select the instant refund option, if it's available. Instant refunds are either refunded to your credit card or issued as an Amazon.co.uk Gift Card balance, depending on the instant refund type you selected. You'll still need to return your items within 30 days.

Note: Your refund request will be processed instantly. However, it may take 5-7 business days for it to display on your payment card statement. Amazon may determine that a refund can be issued without requiring a return.
Gift returns: The type of refund or credit you receive depends on how the gift was purchased and how it was returned. For more information about gift refunds, go to Return a Gift.
You can check the status of your refund in Your Account on the order summary page.
If your refund doesn't appear in Your Account, and the processing time for your payment method has passed, contact us for further assistance.
Note: After the carrier has received your item, it can take up to 2 weeks for us to receive and process your return.
We'll refund your return costs on items sold and/or fulfilled by Amazon, up to our standard delivery option cost, if:
In accordance with your statutory rights, if you received an item sold and/or fulfilled by Amazon that is either incorrect, damaged, defective or does not match its description, we will either offer you the option to return the product via a pre-paid carrier option, or, if that's not possible and the cost of returning the item exceeds our standard delivery option, please Contact Us to receive a refund for any reasonable additional postage costs you incurred. Note that we may require proof of postage in order to refund such additional postage costs.
