Link Building – 5 Myths That Kill a Marketing Plan
By Amy Cox
You have surely heard of the importance of link building. After all, link building is quickly becoming more important than SEO is for getting a site recognized in the internet community. However, like every important marketing strategy, there are misconceptions that will lead to failure. Thus, it is essential to avoid those misconceptions in order to get the most out of link building.
Myth 1: Reciprocal Links Lead to Increased Page Rank
This is one of the most common and most abused practices in link building. Many people, internet marketers included, believe that they can swap links with other companies and then improve their page ranking. In reality, this will not help your ranking at all. You want to have one way links, and when you swap links, the two links basically cancel each other out. Don’t waste your time looking for others to swap links with. It will not help your business.
Myth 2: Any Link Will Help
If a website that is ranked near the bottom of the pack links to your website, you will not benefit greatly from the link. That is because the search engines use a formula in regards to linking. They assign a greater value to sites that have one way links from high ranking sites. Don’t discourage others from linking to your site, but understand if they don’t have a good ranking, they won’t improve your ranking much at all.
Myth 3: Once I Get My Links Up, I’m Done
This is a common mistake webmasters make. They spend months getting links all around the internet, and then they forget about them. Sites become inactive or slip in the rankings, and thus they are no longer as helpful.
When it comes to link building, the more links you have, the more powerful you are. Therefore, you do not want to stop the link building process. You need to make sure the links you have continue to help you, and you also need to add more when you can.
Myth 4: Interlinking is a Powerful Technique
At one time, interlinking could be found all over the internet. Basically, interlinking is the practice of creating multiple websites that cover the same topic. Each site is SEO rich, and each of the sites link to the others. This is to increase the link relevancy of the sites. This is one of the most frowned upon black hat tactics on the market and should be avoided.
Myth 5: Link Building is Fast and Easy
If this were true, there would be a greater battle for the top few spots in the search engine rankings. In reality, link building is a long process, and it needs to be done correctly. Shortcuts in regards to link building rarely achieve strong results. Thus, you need to take your time and get the right kind of links. If a company promises you 500 links in two weeks, you might want to take a step back and decide how they are going to make that happen.
They will likely give you the kind of links that will not help your search engine rankings.Link building is essential if you want your site to move up in the search engine rankings. Take your time with link building in order to get the kind of links that will truly help you. While the process will take some time, the results are very rewarding when the process is done correctly.

I was just seeking this information for a while. After 6 hours of continuous Googleing, at last I got it in your website. I wonder what’s the Google’s issue that does not rank this type of informative websites closer to the top. Usually the top web sites are full of garbage.
